Christa Watson
Lecture - Trunk Show: One Pattern, Many Possibilities

In August, we welcome Christa Watson, a modern quilter known for her bold use of color and approachable quilting style. In her lecture and trunk show One Pattern, Many Possibilities, Christa explores how a single quilt pattern can take on endless variations with changes in layout, fabric, and quilting design. She’ll share her creative process and walk us through a series of quilts that prove how small design choices can lead to strikingly different results. Attendees will enjoy seeing her latest work up close and will come away inspired to look at familiar patterns with fresh eyes.

August Speaker

August speaker's Quilt

Christa has been quilting for over twenty years and loves every step of the process—from piecing to quilting to binding. Since discovering modern quilting in 2013, she’s embraced her signature “perfectly imperfect” style and has become a leading voice for confident, stress-free machine quilting. She’s the author of several best-selling quilting books, designs contemporary fabrics for Benartex’s Contempo Studio, and teaches around the world, encouraging quilters to experiment, play, and enjoy the creative journey.

The Flying Geese Quilt Guild brings together a vibrant community of quilters through monthly meetings and a variety of activities. These gatherings feature quilt-related programs presented by talented members, locally recognized fiber artists, and nationally and internationally acclaimed speakers; including quilters, designers, and textile artists.
Every month, our guild members delight us with a spectacular Show and Tell, offering a glimpse into the creativity within our community and a preview of the stunning quilts featured in our biennial quilt show. Before the meeting and during breaks, members can socialize, sign up for workshops, and enter opportunity drawings for small wall hangings and door prizes.
Between meetings, the guild offers a variety of activities, including hands-on workshops, philanthropy sewing days, and small friendship quilt group gatherings.
Founded in 1985 by 30 dedicated quilters, the quilt guild has grown to approximately 200 members in 40 years. Our mission is to promote and educate members and the public in creative quilting and fiber arts, preserve the heritage of quilt making, and encourage quilt-related activities.
Guild membership offers access to workshops led by expert speakers, friendship groups, philanthropy sewing days, and community education projects. Members also enjoy special events such as our biennial quilt show, quilt auction, and retreats.
